Dear all National Federations, On behalf of the Asian Rowing Federation, I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the athletes and teams that competed and, for those who were successful in their attempts, qualify for this year’s Olympic games in Brazil. The collective performance of these elite athletes at the 2016 Asia and Oceania Continental Olympic Qualification Regatta, Chung-ju, Korea gives nations and athletes across Asia and Oceania a great sense of pride. The Asian rowers that represented their countries and our continent in Korea were outstanding ambassadors for our sport. They also serve as inspiration for us by encouraging to set goals. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of those National Federations that have directly qualified for the Olympics at this qualification regatta. They are: China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. I would also like to congratulate FISA and the Korean Rowing Association on a wonderfully organized competition and to acknowledge the efforts of coaches, trainers, staff, volunteers and athlete families that have supported our athletes on the road to the Rio Olympics.   • On 6th September the 2017 ARF Ordinary Congress was held successfully at Pattaya, Thailand. 5 ARF Executive Committee Members, 8 Chairs of ARF Committees and 38 Delegates from 22 National Federations attended the Congress. Furthermore, FISA Delegates Mr. Mike Tanner and Mr. Patrick Rombaut participated in the Congress as well. 1 ExCo.   • From 4th to 8th September, 2017, the 2018 Asian Rowing Championships was successfully held at Pattaya, Thailand. As 325 athletes and 82 officials from 22 National Federations participated in this year Asian Rowing Championships, the total number of 407 participants is the highest number in Asian rowing history. 微信截图_20170910090206 Beautiful View in the Venue   微信截图_20170910085040 Para-rowing Athletes in 2017 ARC   During the 4-day Championships, athletes from all over Asia competed in 22 events.After the final race, China won 6 gold medals, Iran won 5, Indonesia, Korea and Thailand won 2 respectively, while Hong Kong China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam won 1.   微信截图_20170909003410 On-water Training    微信截图_20170910085054 Umpire on Catamaran   With the nice arrangement of the OC, all the participants were invited to experience a most impressive Opening Ceremony before the races starting.   • From 31th August to 2nd September, 2017, the 2017 ARF Para-rowing Classification Workshop was held successfully in Pattaya, Thailand. There were 17 candidates from 5 nations participating in the Workshop.   5                             Lecture of the workshop   Two experienced lecturers, Ms. Shirley Stokes and Ms. Tarina van der Stockt from FISA were invited to conduct the workshop.   6                               Demonstration how to do the classification of the workshop   In the three day workshop, first day was lecture and demonstration of classification process; the second day was practical day for the trainees, as one medical and one technical trainee forming a pair to act as a formal diagnose to get more experiences; the third day was on-water observation, to learn about more of the observation to how assess the athletes’ condition under the real rowing situation.   7                                                   Practice of the classification   After the three-day workshop, the participants learnt a lot about the knowledge of rower classify and will bring their experiences to their own National Federations to help the development of the para-rowing.   • For the development of Para-rowing in Asia, from 20th to 31st August, 2017 ARF Para-Rowing Training Camp was held in Pattaya, Thailand. This was first time in history that ARF Para-rowing Training Camp was held in South East Asia.   In this camp, 11 para-rowing athletes and their coaches participated. In spite of some rowers were beginners and some of them already had para-rowing experiences, all the para rowers enjoyed the training camp under the supervision of the coach and learnt a lot about the rowing.   It is believed that even though Asian para-rowing is still in the early stage of development, with the joint effort of ARF and all the participants in ARF Para-Rowing Training Camp, this amazing event will bring more happiness to para-rowing athletes throughout Asia.   1                                   Rigging the boat     2                                         Embark the boat3                                       On water training   4                                         Group photo of training camp
